Midlife and the Eagerness to Start Creating Your Legacy

Have you ever heard someone say, "I'm in midlife," as if it's a fixed age or a stage you simply arrive at? When it comes to my retreats and workshops, I am often asked, “I'm XX old, will I fit in?” While society often places a numerical bracket around this phase of life, I see it profoundly differently. To me, midlife is not an age—it's an eagerness for more. It's the desire for significance, not a number.
It’s a level of life experience coupled with a burning desire for what’s next. More passion-driven purpose. More authentic contribution. More meaningful relationships.
Beyond the Ticked Boxes

I've had the privilege of working with incredible women, and what I’ve observed is truly inspiring. I’ve seen 80-year-olds radiate this midlife energy with as much fervor as 30-year-olds. The common thread isn't a birth year; it's an internal compass.
These are women who have checked off countless boxes – careers built, families raised, challenges gracefully navigated. Yet, deep down, they know they are not "done." They feel a powerful stir, an unshakeable certainty that their purpose has yet to be fully realized. They don’t want to simply maintain; they want to grow. They want to continue creating significance and etching their unique legacy into the world, much like the mighty, ancient trees whose roots run deep and wide.
The Shift: From Roles to Radiance
Midlife, in this truest sense, is often when we begin to intentionally shift our focus. We move from fulfilling external roles to cultivating an internal radiance. It's the glorious unfolding of self, where:
Curiosity replaces conformity: We dare to explore new interests, learn new skills, and challenge long-held beliefs.
Contribution becomes paramount: We seek ways to give back, to impact our communities, and to share the wisdom we've gathered.
Connection deepens: We yearn for relationships that truly nourish our souls, built on authenticity and mutual growth.
Purpose becomes our North Star: We actively seek to define and live by our unique, passion-driven purpose, rather than letting life just happen to us.
This isn't about chasing youth; it's about embracing wisdom and activating potential. It's about leveraging every single experience you've had to fuel your next, most meaningful chapter.
What's Your Eagerness Calling For?
So, I invite you to reflect: What is your "eagerness for more" telling you? What significance are you ready to create? What legacy are you building, right now, in this moment?
Remember, the most vibrant chapters of your life are still waiting to be written by you. It’s never too late, or too early, to answer that call for significance.
With so much encouragement,
